This is a dynamic and diverse programme designed for young people and adults who want to extend their art making capabilities through a variety of different mediums and techniques.

The tutors will encourage you to explore and research your own ideas and interests.

The programme is responsive to your learning needs and interests. It provides a sound process for you to develop your capabilities in art making, and to enjoy expressing yourself through a variety of media.

The resulting work tends to be inventive, unique and highly creative. The studio environment stimulates spontaneity, the imagination, and the mental, emotional and physical dexterity involved in crafting unique works of art.

Becoming an Artist is a supportive group experience. The sense of community and sharing of work and ideas is a regular and important feature.

You’ll have the opportunity to have your work selected for showing in community galleries as part of Māpura Studios’ extensive exhibition calendar.

This programme is suitable for youth making a transition.

It is a way I can express myself and communicate with others. No one judges.
