Disability Equity Statement

Māpura Studios believes in fairness, equity and values diversity.

We provide creative programmes and art therapy services for all people, regardless of disability, gender, age, race, religion, social and economic background, sexual orientation, ethnicity and gender identity.

We recognise the vision of the New Zealand Disability Strategy:

  • New Zealand is a non-disabling society - a place where disabled people have an equal opportunity to achieve their goals and aspirations, and all of New Zealand works together to make this happen.

  • We foster a culture of belonging, collaborative and individual practice, innovation, creativity and mutual respect.

  • We exist to help disabled and marginalized people lead rich and rewarding lives through creative practices, friendship and community.

  • We understand that creativity is a human need and expression and recognise the  experience and vision of disabled people and tāngata hauā is a powerful and authentic artistic force.

  • We seek opportunities with communities and disability organisations to work in collaborative ways aligned to our programme areas.
