A PRESENTATION OF THE COMMUNITY ENVIRO HUB MURAL PROJECT

This is a community mural project run by tutors Margaret and Ite, partnering with Te Ara-rata Stream Team to create a mural for the Enviro Hub container.

This project will take quite a while and it’s in its early stages.

The project was blessed at Māngere Town Centre Library.

Te Ara-rata Stream Team

The little stream that could - What?

flood 198 homes?

be the green heart of Māngere?

The first was proved true on 27 January.

The second we have to work for!

Māpura Māngere Studio is our free Wednesday morning art sessions at Māngere Library. The tutors encourage individuals to develop their own ideas and style. No matter your age or ability, you’re more than welcome to join in.

The Te Ara-rata Stream Team is a small volunteer group that has planted and cleaned the Māngere stream banks for 20 years and works hard to inform local people of the best ingredients for a biodiverse, flood-mitigating floodplain growing food, forests and wetlands.

The Enviro Hub is a property leased by community group I AM Māngere.

Community food gardens, composting, meeting, cooking and storage places are in the plans.

This is a project encompassing ecology, creativity and community.
